I’m sure by now plenty of you probably know who Kanye West is. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Mr. West, he is a rapper/record producer on the Def Jam label. Many have come to know Kanye for is temper tantrums and for the controversial statement he made during the Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”.
This year Kanye has manage to put all the tantrums behind him and released a phenomenal album entitled Graduation. Despite all the praise that he has gotten for the album, Kanye was hit with a blow that most of us would never even dream on going through. On Saturday, November 10, 2007, Kanye West lost his mom, Dr. Donda West due to complications from cosmetic surgery.
Even though Kanye West is going through a tough time he still attempted to perform at a live concert in Paris, France.
Courtesy of French newspaper Le Parisian:
He said the word, ‘Mother’ and just couldn’t go any further. A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn’t continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing.
Kanye then reportedly walked off the stage, regained his composure and returned to perform his hit song Stronger
He kept shouting out to the audience, ‘I need you… I need you right now.’ and the public was screaming back. It was magic.
